Role Overview

The Head of Project Manager will play a dual role, both as an individual contributor (IC) leading high-priority projects and as a manager overseeing a team of 2-3 Project Managers. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive project management experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage and mentor a team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 2-3 Project Managers, each with 8 + years of experience.
  • Provide guidance and support to Project Managers, helping them navigate challenges and develop their skills.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the project management team.
  • Weekly and Monthly updates on Projects to the leadership Team.

Individual Contribution

  • Manage and lead high-priority, complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, resource allocation, and risk management plans.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Understanding of WBS and should be able to create Project Charters.
  • Resource scheduling and timely delivery of projects with 5 % of variance.

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Contribute to the strategic planning of project management processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Align project management practices with the company’s overall business strategy and goals.
  • Implement best practices for project management and agile methodologies.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Project and Delivery health status with the right KPI for all projects to be communicated to Leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular status updates and ensuring alignment on project goals and deliverables.
  • Facilitate effective communication between development teams, product management, and other stakeholders.
  • Work with external stakeholders and clients and have timely project updates and meetings with them.
  • Project and Delivery health status with the right KPI for all projects to be communicated to Leadership.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes and practices to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
  • Implement and manage tools and practices that support agile project management and delivery.
  • Identify Area of improvement in SDLC process for more efficient way for PM Management.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s /Engineering degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience

  • 14+ years of experience in project management, with a strong background in software development and agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing complex software development projects, preferably within a SaaS product environment.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role managing a team of Project Managers.
  • Certifications:
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is required.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceDesk).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scaling agile practices in SDLC.
  • Background in software development or technical expertise in SaaS products.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and training sessions on agile practices.
